I don't enter competitions, but I was drawn to the theme for this year's John Ruskin Prize. This year, artists are being challenged to respond to the theme 'Agent of Change'. Of course, this will be open to a broad range of interpretations. John Ruskin was fiercely opposed to the social, political and environmental injustices of his day. He cared about how the economic uncertainty affected the ‘haves’ and the ‘have-nots'. Well, a record 3,500 entries have gone in and the closing date for entries has now passed. My initial aim is to reach the shortlist of 25. My engraving 'There Must be Change' is on the head of a gold pin measuring 2mm across.
